Chinese New Year Week

Saturday

Those who celebrated the festive occasion had family gatherings and enjoyed themselves a nice CNY eve dinner. I on the other hand had a nice BBQ dinner at my godmother’s house in TTDI.
She hired some caterer’s and the food was truly excellent plus some other foods brought by her friends and relatives. The house located at the hilltop with a beautiful garden truly made the night interesting. Family and friends gather together remembering the good old days however I on the other hand was talking to my siblings and Raz about games, computers, handphones and latest technologies.

Thanked her for the dinner and a nice evening.

Sunday

Previously Uncle Njah, the youngest child among my dad’s siblings invited the whole Kushari Clan for a family picnic at Taman Bukit Jalil. So that morning we all met somewhere near the man made lake and set up the table with the food we brought.

There were all sorts of food such as sandwiches, pancakes, fried macaroni, friend meehon (my favourite), nasi lemak and of course mandarin oranges. With six families enjoying their picnic, you might imagine how the atmosphere would be like with adults talking and kids playing.
I spent my time reading the newspapers and playing UNO with my cousins. Believe or not, even my mom join in to play with us with some help of course. Dad made an announcement that on the 2nd or 3rd day of Hari Raya, all the ‘keturunan’ of Tn. Haji Abdul Malek will have a grand Raya gathering at Bagan Dato, Perak. As everyone heard the good news, Uncle Njah volunteered to contribute anything related with IT such as sending emails, workgroups and prints. Auntie Ain on the other hand offered to supply corporate gifts for the event.

We stayed till like 12:30 noon with the sun beaming from above yet the shades of tree gave us comfort.

Monday – Wednesday

The only thing I remembered about these three days are eating Yee Sang, cleaning up my room, shopping for new office clothes and brought myself two graphic novels.

Thursday

The day felt like I was traveling from Perlis to Johor Bahru in a day and stopping only for lunch and toilet break. Kuala Lumpur was on a holiday and Selangor reports back to its normal working day.

In the morning, I went to Terminal 2, Subang to renew my passport but ended up going home late afternoon. Arrived at 8.30 am, queued up with the rest of those who came and formed a long ‘S’ shape from the counter to the cafeteria. Manage to get my number by 12:30 noon and got myself some drinks from the cafeteria. The counters reopens at 2.00 pm and I had to wait for 100 people before I could give my completed form.

Waiting while watching RTM, heard my number and went to the specific counter to pass the form. Time was 5.35 pm and she told me to wait a little more as I need to pay at another counter. Gave her a smile and went to my seat while waiting for my number to be called again.
Completed the whole passport renewal process and felt relieved that it is over. Finally!!!

Friday

Did not applied for leave therefore I came to work but still having the holiday mood. Working as usual but with a slow pace due to the laziness and quiet environment. Just can’t wait to go back home and get ready to go KL that night.

Jon Poh, one of my old college friends, invited the rest and me for a small gathering at Luna Bar located on top of Pan Global building. Since he is working in Australia and back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year, he plans to catch up with everyone that he knows plus introducing his friend Simon from UK.

Our night out at Luna Bar was full of style with smooth ambience, cool music and majestic sceneries. Unfortunately, no one brought his or her camera except for May but hers has no flash function (lomo purposes). We talked all night long till midnight when the time for us to make a move arises.

Later on we walked to a mamak restaurant located behind Hotel Istana and get ourselves a late night supper. We ate, talk and bid farewell to each other before going back home for a good night sleep.

A good night out to remember…. for myself of course.

Saturday

Errr…house cleaning and playing Ominusha the latest edition.

Closure

I know there a few details missed out in this post and only those who were around me during those days knew what happened. Let’s keep it that way and as someone I know would say “What happens in the xxxxxxx, stays in the xxxxxxxx”…..shhhhhh.
