Open my outlook yesterday morning at work, 'this person' send an email a day before yesterday at 6.15 pm stating "We are please to inform you that you have been nominated to attend ............ which will be held tomorrow at.........". Then I told myself "Tomorrow? Which is todaylar!". Gawd! why must it be last minute plus the event is at 8.15 pm of course which is after work.
Ah yes, the culture of force nomination is considered a norm, to agree, 'higher peeps' will be pleased, to decline 'hassle' may proceed.
So as usual I am unable to decline and of I go to this prestigious event held meant for someone who has ended his service to the nation but actually to the finance industry. Did i mention the place is quite far that you had to take the Sungai Besi toll and .........
Anyway I went with four of my colleagues and we kept talking crap, curse people and laugh like mad till we reach our destination. Initially we plan to leave the place earlier by sneaking out at the back. However lady luck was not on our side as our table was right at the front near to VIP and VVIP tables.
Looking around us, it seems the crowd is mostly consists of 'otais' which could probably be from management level and above. My group were consists of executive and support level. Certainly you will feel awkward with that kind of crowd so one of my friends suggested that we claim ourselves at a management level. We kept calling each other 'Dato', 'Tuan' and 'Tuan Sri' and even have ourselves different position titles. Base on our actual job scope at work, mine was Director of Scholarship since Events was taken by someone. We had Logistics, Finance, Payroll , IT, Maintenance and Media.
Surprisingly us being 'machais' finished our meal earlier than the rest maybe because higher ranking people eat slowly?
There's a lot of things to tell which is so funny but it might be sensitive to some...nevertheless it was good that I can't stop laughing!!!!
Can't be continued.....Hahhaha!
